"Terrible Experience - Avoid This Complex
Living here was a complete nightmare, and moving out was even worse. After I moved out on the 29th, they refused to take my apartment keys without the garage keys. I asked if I could move my stuff from the garage in a couple of days, and they said it was fine—only to charge me for 5 extra days of rent, garage fees, water, trash, and their constant extra charges (~$200/month on top of rent). Out of my $500 deposit, I only got $190 back.
On top of that, the rent increased from $1,400 to $1,900 for the next lease offer, despite constant issues. My boyfriend’s car was broken into twice, the gates were always broken, and management was completely indifferent about safety concerns. They refused to add my boyfriend to the lease but still charged us as if two people were living there.
USPS won’t deliver packages to your door here, and you’re forced to pay for their mandatory delivery service just to get your mail.
This place is nothing but a money grab, and they don’t care about their residents. Don’t waste your time or money—look elsewhere!"
"Wow. The maintenance crew has been amazing. My last 3 requests were completed quickly and quietly. My medicine cabinet was replaced. My ceiling fan was repaired, a light was replaced and the blinds were fixed. Thank you! I arrived home and it was like the item had been magically fixed. I will also say that if I am ever unhappy with a fix, maintenance is quick to return and make adjustments. Thanks again."
"One of the worst move in processes I have been through. I loaded up my apartment with boxes and after the movers left I kept waiting for the A/C to cool off but it never did.... first few days in my apartment it was 79degrees. Why wasn't the A/C even checked before I moved in? Then, the toilet was running and the handle was stuck down, the bathtub faucet was dripping like crazy and the water bill is in my name! Then I kept wondering what the awful smell was and the water heater was spitting out rust and stunk. The garbage disposal did not work, I have no hot water in the kitchen and barley any in the bathtub. then I went grocery shopping only to return and my key fob was not programmed and neither was my phone so I couldn't' even enter the property was a truck load of groceries. I paid $2,000.00 upfront before I could move in and get my keys and absolutely nothing was working in my apartment. Please check your apartment before you get the keys.... I person shouldn't have to pay this much up front to be given a place to live and nothing works that you paid for. After all the back and fourth the "regional manager" was going to see if the managing office at the complex could possibly get me a gift card. It looked just like a bunch of copy and pasting because it happens so much.
PS... my Garbage disposal was also broken. I recently found that out.
So just to be clear.....The only thing the gables community did was take my money and leave me with absolutely nothing working.
I got in touch with someone at the corporate office finally...That person didn't even care to hear what I had to say. The sent me to the regional manager in Dallas... That person did the exact same and didn't care what I had to say and sent me right back to the manager at the complex I moved in to.
The entire point of me reaching out to corporate was to get some help because the local manager wasn't doing anything....
Nobody wants to help and its very obvious. I was trying to go up the chain of commands and let them know about the issue and all they did was send it right back down the chain of commands because NOBODY wants to help with anything here."
"I lived here for just about two years before moving to live closer to my new job.
The pros:
-It felt safe to me. I have seen other reviews about people having their cars stolen, and I will not invalidate their experiences. But personally, I never felt unsafe personally, or wherever I parked my car. The area in general felt safe for me.
-There's not a lot of flash to the apartment complex, but that's what allowed it to be a relatively good value, especially for the area.
-The apartment itself was cool, nothing spectacular. A standard apartment.
-The area: I loved living in that part of town because it felt like easy access to get everywhere that I wanted to go. And like I said, at the relative value of rent that I got it at, I liked it.
The cons:
-Because the apartment is relatively inexpensive and no frills, you do miss out on some things that surrounding complexes do have. Not the worst thing to me, but not ideal.
-There was a portion of time where my A/C stopped working and the apartment/maintenance team took a long time to respond, and not in a cool time of year. And once or twice, they came in and said they fixed it, but it never was fixed. Eventually it did get fixed, but it was a miserable time, and that is the majority of why I took a star off of this review.
-The kitchen is small and it does not come with a microwave, which I would expect for an apartment with rent that high (I said relatively inexpensive, not actually).
Honestly, it's a regular ol good apartment. Nothing amazingly special, other than location. But there weren't any glaring deficiencies other than what I mentioned. I would recommend this as an apartment to rent at."
"Roaches roaches roaches! They are all over the place!!! Bathroom, kitchen, couch, walls…
Get ready to have no kitchen counter… the units do not come with microwave and the kitchens are tiny. To conserve what little kitchen space there is, we have our microwave on an end table outside of the kitchen. We have a dining room, but I would have much rather had a larger kitchen. Maintenance came and power washed all the walkways outside our units and ruined one of my custom door mats by spraying the wording off. We have a garage that is spacious, but whenever it rains, water leaks in and collects along the corners. This has ruined one of our beds we were storing down there (the bedroom’s too small for it). The fans always seem to operate only on the lowest setting. Traffic is one way through the unit and good luck parking after 1800-1900. This complex is right across the street from an incredibly active fire station (warning night shifters). The storage in-unit is minimal. Good things: price, proximity to med center, location, and maintenance. Whoever designed these units really dropped the ball on optimizing space and storage. It’s a cozy apartment but I don’t know if we’ll stay longer than a year."
