"**4 year resident review- 2019-2024**
Skip to bottom for pros :)
Now that I’ve moved out and still haven’t received my deposit back - here’s my HONEST review.
When I moved in 2019, there were definitely less people in the complex, a lot of families, definitely made it easier.. however, moving forward to February 2024..
Cons:
-parking is terrible. I worked the evening shift and would get home 11/11:30pm, everytime I would have to drive around the complex lot at least 3 times to find a parking spot. Majority of the time, you have to park on curbs, alongside the pool or anywhere that isn’t blocking someone in. Parking was horrible, seemed like every unit had 3+ cars, then you have the parking police(neighbors) leaving notes on your car saying not to park in certain areas.
- ROACHES - they come up through the drains and pipes. Through cabinets. No matter how clean you are, they are there. It also seemed like whenever they’d spray or it rained heavily they would come out even more. (Surprised more residents don’t talk about this but maybe it doesn’t bother them, me I can’t do critters) buy traps AND get that ortho home defense and put them everywhere before you move in.
- MICE - briefly had a time period of a few months where we found mouse droppings and caught 3 mice on the traps. We stayed in the front building at the time (building 13) right off 34th. After moving into a unit on my own, I did not experience mice.. just beware as well
- the back of the complex has slight flooding on sidewalks when it rains heavily.
- maintenance - they are usually pretty quick with repairs. When I 1st moved into my single unit, there were scratches in the window sill and cabinets, floorboards were raising in the bathroom, and when I brought it to leasing’s attention, they just painted over the scratches and put masking tape on the floorboard in the bathroom. Masking tape was still there as I was moving out. They never came back to repair it. LOL. Also it took them Almost a month to fix the ceiling in my closet, basically painted over that as well. Very cheap repairs! For most things like light bulbs replacement, you have to buy the light bulbs yourself and then maintenance will put them in for you.
- security- saw at least 4-5 cars on bricks every year. Cars have been stolen from the complex as well. Gates were periodically broken.
-Overpopulated: might just be a “me “ thing”, I never was able to use the pool the 4 years I was there. There are a lot of families in the complex and everytime we’d try to use the pool, it was packed with kiddos.
-amenities are small (not really a con for me)
-in unit: occasionally the water that would come from my shower smelled chemically treated/like bleach.. very weird. Coming from the Midwest, I’ve never experienced anything like that
PROS:
-office staff was friendly (Miss Josephine and Mahogany) were very polite and friendly and helped out where they could
- complex, outwardly is overall clean
- decent price for the area- my 1 bed at the time was $1290
- neighbors keep to themselves; most are friendly and it is very quiet.
-never had any stolen packages. They now have an Amazon locker
- for the most part it was pretty safe. I never felt in danger as a single black woman
SUGGESTIONS IF YOURE MOVING IN:
-buy the parking spot.. it’ll save you the headache.
-set insect traps before moving in if you can.
Overall, I did enjoy my stay at RGO BUT needs improvement for sure. Still a decent choice"
