"Renters Beware: The Tessa at Katy - A Horrible Lease Experience!
**An update 1-8-25 after all I went throug with this raggedy ass property, Tessa had the audavity to send me to say I owed them money. They in fact owe me money to compensate me for the almost three months I was unable to occupy my apartment die to the broken elevators and lies told about them being repaired soon. The elevators being inoperable for 6 months causing multiple rescheduling of knee surgery. Collections. We’ll be on our way to small claims court before that happens. Try another nearby property - don’t rent with Tessa if you value your sanity!
**Original post ** The shiny website pretty pool area and supposed 'modern amenities' might seem appealing, but beneath the surface is a nightmare with complete disregard for residents' well-being. If you're considering renting at The Tessa at Katy, let me save you the trouble—DON'T!
The worst part of my 12-month lease was the last six months. This is the part of my Tessa living experience where the elevator was broken, for an entire 6 months. My grandson was born the week after the elevator went out and he's now 6 months with 2 teeth. Despite endless promises that it would be repaired in a few days. I was a 3rd floor resident, and the only reason I moved there in the first place was because the property had an elevator—an amenity I relied on due to a serious knee injury. Six months is no exaggeration!
During this six months, I was given empty assurances that it would be fixed "soon," yet nothing was done and no alternate accommodations were offered. I was forced to reschedule pending knee surgery multiple times because of the empty elevator repair promises! I couldn't access my apartment for a total of 8 weeks—two months I was paying rent for an apartment I literally couldn't get to because of the elevator situation. I won't even tell you about the expense incurred due to the surgery rescheduling.
When I reached out to management, requesting accommodations or reimbursement for the time I couldn't live in my own home, I was met with radio silence. Instead of addressing the issue, they had the audacity, when I did move out to present me with a document to sign, which essentially asked me to waive my rights to leave a review or take any action. Obviously, I didn’t sign it—hence this review. Never heard back about reimbursing me.
To say this was a horrible lease experience is an understatement. If you're looking for a place that values its tenants and keeps up with basic maintenance, look elsewhere. The Tessa at Katy is not it. I wouldn’t wish this level of stress, frustration, and blatant disregard on anyone. Renters beware!"
